TAMALE PIE 
1 pkg. tortillas
2 lb. lean ground beef
2 cans chopped olives
1 lg. or 2 med. chopped onions
1 lg. can sharp grated cheese (1 lb. cheddar cheese, grated)
3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 clove minced garlic
1 1/2 c. water
2 tsp. chili powder
Sm. amount of oil to simmer onions, garlic and meat
Salt and pepper to taste

Heat oil, saute onions, garlic and meat until seared but not brown. Add tomato sauce, olives, water, chili powder and 1/3 of cheese. Simmer 5 minutes or more. Spoon a thin layer of meat mixture in baking dish, make a layer of tortillas, tearing some to make them fit shape of dish. Continue alternate layers ending with meat on top. When ready to heat for serving, sprinkle cheese on top and heat at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve on shredded lettuce.
