1 dash bitters
1/3 Italian (sweet) Vermouth
2/3 Whiskey

Stir with ice - strain into cocktail glass. Add Maraschino cherry.

DRY MANHATTAN (variation):

Use French (dry) Vermouth in place of Italian (sweet) Vermouth.
