APPLE DUMPLINGS
Apples, peeled and chopped (Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, or Jonathan)
2 c. biscuit mix or following ingredients:
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening

Make a dough using enough milk to make a soft dough and roll quite thin. Chop enough peeled apples to cover dough and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Roll up and pinch together and slice 1 1/2 inches thick. Should make 1 dozen. Pour over them, after placing in a big flat pan, this sauce, which you should previously prepare and use hot.

SAUCE:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 tbsp. flour or cornstarch
1 tbsp. butter
2 c. water

Boil together. Pour hot over dumplings. Sprinkle a few more apples over the top and bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes, then at 350 degrees until done, about 20 minutes. Cover it the last few minutes. Serve with cream if desired.
