1 3/4 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Cream shortening, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Blend in dry ingredients mixing thoroughly. Shape dough into balls by rounded teaspoons. Roll in sugar, place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in preheated oven at 375°F for 8 minutes. Remove from oven, place a candy kiss on top of each cookie pressing down so that cookie cracks around edge. Return to oven and bake 2 to 5 minutes. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
