1 1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. dates, chopped
2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
2 c. raisins
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
2 1/2 c. flour

Heat oven to 275 degrees. Grease tube pan. In large bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Set aside.

In saucepan, blend shortening, sugar, applesauce. Bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes, cool. Add nuts, dates and maraschino cherries and raisins to flour mixture. Then add applesauce mixture. Mix well. Bake 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cool 20 minutes and remove from pan.
