GINGER SNAPS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
1/4 c. New Orleans style molasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. powdered ginger
3/4 tsp. powdered cloves

Mix first 4 ingredients. Mix all spices, soda and salt with flour. Add to creamed mixture. Form walnuts sized balls and place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
