MICHIGAN CHRISTMAS HARD CANDY | |
3/4 c. white sugar 1 1/2 c. white corn syrup 1 c. water 1 tsp. desired flavoring Combine in heavy saucepan or heavy skillet. Stir with wooden spoon until it comes to a boil. Turn heat down and put in candy thermometer. Cook to 310 degrees. Add teaspoon flavoring. You can use 2 cookie sheets or a piece of heavy foil about 18 x 24 that has been covered with powdered sugar. Pour out the hot liquid and allow to cool until you can handle it. Cut into long strips with scissors and cut into bite-size pieces. If it cools too much, you will need to break it into pieces. Half recipes can be made if you don't want too much of one flavor. The flavorings are concentrated oil flavorings. |
