BAKED BROWN BEANS 
4 c. brown beans
1 tbsp. salt
4 tbsp. white or brown sugar
1/2 c. molasses or syrup
1 tsp. dry mustard
1/2 lb. salt pork

Follow instructions above for cooking beans. Put into a heavy casserole with the bean juice. Add the seasonings, mixed in 1 cup hot water. Cut slices in the salt pork and place with the rind on top of the beans. Cover the pot and bake in slow oven for six hours. Add more hot water as needed to keep the beans moist. Remove the cover the last 1/2 hour. This makes a large pot of beans.
