APPLE FILLED CRUMB CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
2/3 c. butter
2/3 c. milk
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

APPLE FILLING:

8 c. sliced apples
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Cook apples, sugar, cinnamon, butter, and lemon juice until tender. Drain and cool. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cloves. Add butter and milk. Beat 1 1/2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla. Spread half of batter in 13 x 9 greased and floured pan. Spoon half of apple filling over batter. Add remaining batter, then remaining filling. Add crumb topping:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. butter

Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
