SAUCE:

In cake pan - 9 inch square:

1 c. brown sugar
2 c. water
1 tbsp. butter
Pinch of salt

BATTER:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. flour
1 c. dates, chopped
1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Mix all ingredients and drop by tablespoon on top of sauce. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
