1 (8" or 9") baked pastry shell, cooled 1 can sweetened condensed milk 2 (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate squares 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. hot water 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 c. heavy cream, whipped Whipped cream, shaved chocolate or nuts for garnish (opt.) In top of double boiler combine sweetened condensed milk, chocolate and salt. Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until mixture is very thick. Gradually stir in water. Continue to cook 2 to 5 minutes, stirring, frequently until mixture thickens again. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cool to room temperature. Fold in whipping cream; pour in pastry shell. Chill. Garnish as desired. |
