GRUYERE POTATOES 
1 1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
Salt & pepper
3 med. baking potatoes
1 tsp. garlic, finely minced
1/2 c. freshly grated Gruyere or Swiss cheese

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Combine milk, butter, salt and pepper to taste in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Rinse potatoes and peel. Cut into 1/8 inch slices and drop them into hot milk mixture. Add garlic. Partially cover and return to a boil. Simmer 15 minutes. Pour potatoes into a buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish and sprinkle cheese on top. Bake until sauce thickens and top is golden brown. Serves 4.
