APPLE CRUNCH PIE | |
1 1/2 c. sifted flour 3/4 c. butter flavored Crisco Pinch of salt 6 tbsp. ice water 7 to 8 Pippin apples (or Granny Smith 1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. cinnamon 1 c. flour 1 stick butter, softened 3/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. Quaker Oats For pie crust, mix together flour and Crisco with pastry cutter, then moisten with water. Handle dough as little as possible for a more flaky crust. Flour board and roll crust out for a 9 inch pie plate. Line plate with pie dough reserving any extra for leaf cut outs for top of pie. For the filling, peel and slice apples and place in unbaked pie shell. Pile high. Mix granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Mix flour, brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, oats and softened butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over top of apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until you can see filling is bubbly and thick. |
