BLONDE BROWNIES 
1/4 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease 9 x 9 inch pan. Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Fold into sugar mixture. Stir in nuts. Spread in pan and bake about 25 minutes. Cool completely, then cut into squares. Brownies rise, then fall as they cool.
