1/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. hot applesauce
1 tsp. baking soda
Raisins to taste
Nuts to taste
Optional - fruit cake fruit mix

Blend shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat. Add flour which has been sifted with the cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt; blend well. Add soda to hot applesauce and then add to first mixture. Fold in raisins and nuts. Bake in miniature muffin tins, 10-12 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Option: Add fruit mix along with raisins and nuts.
