CHILI AND BEANS 
1 lb. dried pinto beans
1/4 tsp. baking soda
4 onions, chopped
12 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
2 lb. ground beef
2 tsp. cumin
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
Seasoning salt to taste

Soak overnight beans and baking soda in water to cover. Next day, drain and rinse beans. Cover beans with water and simmer with 2 onions, 6 tablespoons chili powder and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder until beans are tender. Add water as needed. Brown meat with 2 onions, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. Add to beans. Then add tomato paste, 6 tablespoons chili powder, cumin and seasoning salt. Slow simmer for 2 hours, adding water as needed.
