MACAROON COOKIE BARS 
BASE:

1 pkg. devil's food or dark chocolate cake mix (any brand)
1/3 c. butter, softened
1 egg

TOPPING:

1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg
1 1/4 c. coconut
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. semi-sweet morsels

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13 x 9 inch pan. In large bowl, combine all base ingredients. Mix at highest speed until crumbly. Press firmly into bottom of prepared pan. In small bowl, beat condensed milk, vanilla, and egg until blended. Stir in 1 cup coconut and nuts and semi-sweet morsels. Pour over base in pan; spread to cover. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup coconut over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown. (Center may appear loose, but will set upon cooling.) Cool completely; cut into bars.
