DATE BREAD 
1/2 lb. dates
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. American cheese, grated
3/4 c. nut meats
3/4 c. boiling water
1 egg

Cut dates fine and cover with boiling water and let stand 5 minutes. Sift dry ingredients together and add to date mixture, egg, cheese, and nuts. Bake in loaf pan in moderate oven for 50 minutes.
