SAVORY MEAT BALLS 
2 lbs. finely ground lean beef
1 c. fine soft whole wheat bread crumbs
2 eggs
1 can or jar (1 lb.) applesauce
1/4 c. grated onion
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2/3 c. catsup
1/2 c. water

Combine all ingredients except catsup and water. Mix lightly and form into 16 balls or into small cocktail size balls. Brown in hot vegetable oil. Place browned meat balls in baking dish.

Combine catsup and water and pour over meat balls. Cover and bake in 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours. Serve hot. May be served with hot pasta, rice or noodles.
