OATMEAL CARMELITAS | |
1 c. flour 1 c. quick cooking rolled oats 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. butter, melted FILLING: 1 c. (6 oz.) milk chocolate or semi sweet chocolate chips 1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts 3/4 c. caramel ice cream topping 3 tbsp. flour In a large mixer bowl, combine all ingredients for crust. First mix the flour, sugar, soda and salt. Add butter and oats. Blend with mixer to form crumbs. Press 1/2 of the crumbs into bottom of 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Crust will appear very buttery until it is baked. Remove from oven. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. Blend caramel topping with flour until well mixed. Pour over chips and nuts. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes longer or until golden brown. Chill immediately in the refrigerator at least 1 hour. Cut into bars. |
