SWEET AND SOUR CABBAGE SALAD 
1 med. head cabbage, finely cut as for slaw
3/4 c. granulated sugar (may use 1/2 c.)
1/2 c. cider vinegar
1/4 c. Crisco oil
1 tsp. salt

Boil sugar, vinegar, oil and salt, about 3 minutes and pour over cabbage. Stir well. Refrigerate. For variety, may add some celery seeds to boiling mixture.
