NIGHT-BEFORE FRENCH TOAST
CASSEROLE
 
1 (10 oz.) long thin loaf French of Italian bread without seeds (Paramount's "Slim Jim")
8 lg. eggs
3 c. milk
4 tsp. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
2 tbsp. lightly salted butter, cut into sm. pieces

Cut bread into 1-inch thick slices and arrange in 1 layer on bottom of buttered 13x9 baking pan. Beat eggs with remaining ingredients except butter. Pour over bread in pan; cover and refrigerate 4-36 hours.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes. Uncover; dot bread with 2 tablespoons butter. Remove from oven. let stand 5 minutes.
