SALISBURY STEAK 
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 c. bread crumbs
1 egg
1 tbsp. butter
1 lg. onion, sliced
4 oz. can mushroom slices, with liquid
Beef bouillon cube
1 c. water
1/2 tbsp. cornstarch

1. Mix first 6 ingredients well. Shape into 4 patties.

2. Brown patties well on both sides in a large non-stick skillet. Remove to a platter and keep warm. Drain fat from skillet.

3. Reduce heat to low and melt butter in skillet. Add onions and cook until soft, 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4. Add mushroom slices with liquid and bouillon cube. Increase heat to medium and stir until cube dissolves and mixture simmers.

5. Return meat to skillet, spoon onions and mushrooms over patties, cover and simmer approximately 10 minutes until patties are cooked through.

6. Remove meat to platter and keep warm. Add water and cornstarch to skillet and keep warm. Add water and cornstarch to skillet and increase heat to high until mixture thickens and boils. Reduce heat and simmer 1-2 minutes.

7. Spoon gravy and vegetables over meat and garnish with fresh parsley or chopped scallions. Serve over rice or noodles. Serves 4.
