SHORTCAKE BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg plus milk to make 2/3 cup

Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Beat egg and add milk to 2/3 cup. Stir lightly into flour mixture. Drop by tablespoons onto 8 x 8 inch pan, making 9 biscuits. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cut apart and remove from pan. Cool on rack. Split and serve with sliced strawberries or peaches. Top with whipped cream.

I was looking for a biscuit to use for strawberry shortcake that wasn't too "bitter" - I really don't care for the traditional "baking soda biscuit". This was PERFECT! Great texture, sweet, but not TOO sweet. A big hit. Highly recommend!
