CHOW MEIN | |
1 (3 lb.) bag onions 1 stalk celery 3 c. boiling water 3 pork chops (or 1 chicken breast, lg.) 4 tbsp. cold water 4 tbsp. cornstarch 1 can bean sprouts 1/2 c. oil 6 tsp. soy sauce 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt Cut onions and celery into bite size pieces. Cut meat into thin strips and fry in hot oil until white. Add onions and celery and fry about 5 or 10 more minutes, then add 3 cups boiling water. Cover and cook about 10 minutes. Add drained bean sprouts (optional). In small bowl put cornstarch, sugar, salt and cold water. Mix to paste. Pour into chow mein mixture and cook until thick. Add soy sauce to taste. Serve over Chinese noodles and rice. |
