“ONION AND CHEESE STRATA” IS IN:

ONION AND CHEESE STRATA 
2 cups sweet onions, thinly sliced
8 slices bread, crusts removed
1 (8 oz) pkg shredded cheddar cheese
3 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 cups milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. English dry mustard
dash of Tabasco sauce
2 tbsp. melted butter

Separate onions into rings. Arrange 4 bread slices into a buttered baking pan. Layer onions over the bread evenly.

Sprinkle a layer of cheese over onions. Cover with another 4 bread slices.

Beat together eggs, milk and remaining ingredients. Pour over the bread.

Cover the casserole with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.

Before baking, uncover and drizzle with melted butter.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 1 hour or until set/firm.

Variation: Add a layer of minced ham in the center (approximately 8 oz).

Makes about 4 servings.
