CHOP SUEY | |
1 lb. veal, cubed 1 lb. pork, cubed 3 tbsp. shortening 1 c. onion, diced 2 c. celery, diced 1 c. water (hot) 1 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. molasses 3 tbsp. chop suey sauce 2 tbsp. corn starch, mix to paste with 1/4 cup cold water Melt shortening in Dutch oven. Add veal and pork and brown meat on all sides. Add onions, celery, hot water and salt. Cover and simmer until meat is tender, about 25 to 30 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and cook until liquid is thickened. (One cup of raw rice will serve 5 people.) Serves five. |
