I carmelized the onion, too, but also sauteed some finely chopped red pepper with it. really easy and good dip.

Thanks for sharing your variation, @Michelle! Caramelizing onions is a great way to add depth of flavor, and the addition of finely chopped red pepper sounds like it would make this already delicious dip even better. I'll have to give that a try next time!

Hi, made this recipe today to bring to a beer brewers Christmas party. like all great cooks I made it my own!! Doubled the recipe. fried onions, fried garlic, 1/2 stick butter, 2 cream cheese, 2 cans crab meat, 1 1/2 cups fresh grated parm, dash sugar, dash black pepper, dash of Old Bay seasoning, 1 tablespoon cilantro, parm cheese and mozz cheese on top before baking. Toasted buttered christines for dipping! Yum

I never understand people who comment on a recipe when they have changed everything. Your version, oh "great cook", is nothing like the original. If you want to make up your own recipe then publish it yourself. To my taste your version has too much other stuff to take away from the crab.

Quick and easy! I added a few pieces of butter on top before I put it in the oven and served it with tortilla chips. YUMMY!

This easy crap dip is even better if you add 1 stick of butter to it and sprinkle GREEN onions to it...AWESOME!

This is the easiest, least ingredient, delectable dip I've tried in a long time. I always have the ingredients on hand so it is great for a quick appetizer. I served it as one of our "Seven Fishes" on Christmas Eve and it was devoured. I plan to double the recipe for my upcoming party.

It's awesome as a cold dip too! I added crushed red pepper a couple splashes of lemon, and some Old Bay...awesome! I made one with shrimp and the other with crab.
