DIPPED MARTHA WASHINGTON'S CREAMS | |
1/4 lb. butter, softened 1 lb. powdered sugar 1 tsp. flavoring (suggestions in directions) 1 lb. Nestle's chocolate disc melts Cream butter. Add sifted sugar, and beat until light and foamy. Divide the cream recipe, and add flavoring such as vanilla, chocolate, peppermint, Kahlua and some instant coffee, coconut extract, or butter flavoring. Almond-flavored cream can be shaped around a maraschino cherry. Black walnut flavoring and some chopped nuts can be added to the cream or use your favorite flavor or combination. The chocolate can be purchased in a variety of colors to complement the cream flavoring. Refrigerate the mixtures for about 12 hours then form into small balls or flatten for peppermint patties or make egg-shape for Easter. Melt the chocolate 1 to 2 minutes in the microwave. Dip the center balls into the melted chocolate, make a twirl on the top and flip over onto a piece of wax paper. The candy will set quickly. Makes 1 1/2 pounds of chocolate. |
