CONNECTICUT BEEF SUPPER 
2 tbsp. shortening
2 lb. cubed stew meat
2 lg. onions, sliced
1 c. water
2 lg. potatoes, pared & sliced
1 can cream of mushroom
1 c. sour cream
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. cheese, grated
Bread crumbs

Melt shortening in large skillet. Brown meat and onions. Add water and heat until boiling. Cover and simmer 50 minutes. Pour meat into 13 x 9 inch ungreased dish. Put potato slices on top.

Stir soup, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper together. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and bread crumbs. Bake uncovered for 1 1/2 hours.
