TEA CAKES 
4 c. flour, all-purpose
2 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Sift flour in a large bowl and make a big hole in the middle. Put all ingredients except buttermilk in the hole of flour. Add buttermilk last. Mix enough flour to make a stiff dough as you combine all ingredients. With your hands roll dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut with large cookie cutters. Bake on cookie sheet at 425 degrees. Do not brown cookies. Makes 3 dozen.
