FRUIT CAKES 
1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 stick butter
1 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
4 tsp. plum jelly
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. buttermilk
3 1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. candied cherries, chopped
1/2 lb. candied pineapple, chopped
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream butter, sugar, jelly, and eggs. Dissolve soda in milk. Gradually add half the flour and all four spices to the butter mixture. Dredge fruit and nuts with remaining flour and add to batter mix. Drop on cookie sheet and bake at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes.
