MARVELOUS SLICED SWEET PICKLES 
14 lg. cucumbers
1 qt. vinegar
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed whole pickling spices
2 tbsp. salt
Boiling water

Wash cucumbers, cover with boiling water. Let stand 24 hours and repeat 3 more times with boiling water. On fifth day, drain and slice 1/4 inch thick. Then combine the other ingredients and bring to boil and pour over and repeat 3 more days. On ninth day boil syrup again and put pickles in jars, adding syrup and seal. Makes 7 pints.
