2 3/4 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. applesauce
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. raisins (optional)
1 c. miniature chocolate chips (optional)

Oven, 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients. Drop by soup spoonful, 2 inches apart, on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 10 minutes or until no finger print remains when you finger test cookies. Remove from pan immediately. Be careful not to overbake these. They can be frozen too.
