1/4 c. butter or shortening
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter and sugar gradually; add unbeaten egg, beating thoroughly. Then add milk and fold in flour sifted with baking powder; add vanilla. Bake in shallow pan at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. When cool, split and fill with lemon filling. Top with slices of apples; sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top.
