PEAR CUSTARD BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. chopped Macadamia or pecan nuts
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese (smooth)
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (15 oz.) can pear halves, drained

Cream butter and 1/3 cup sugar together; beat in flour, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and nuts. Press in greased 8-inch square pan.

Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or lightly browned. Cool. Mix cream cheese, egg, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla together and pour over crust. Drain pears and cut into 1/8-inch slices. Arrange over filling. Combine 1/2 teaspoon sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over pears.

Bake at 375°F for 28 to 30 minutes. Center will be soft, but will firm while cooling. Refrigerate before cutting.
