CHERRY BARS 
2 sticks butter, softened
1 3/4 c. sugar
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

Spread 3/4 of the batter into a greased jelly roll pan or cookie sheet (approximately 11 x 17 x 1 inch). Spread on 1 can of cherry pie filling (or any other flavor). Drop the rest of the batter over filling by small dollops about the size of jelly beans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool.

Drizzle a glaze over bars in a criss-cross pattern made with 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon soft butter, 1/2 teaspoon almond extract and enough milk to make a thin glaze.
