CANDY CANE COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. red food coloring

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, almond extract and vanilla; mixing well. Add flour and salt; mix well. Divide mixture in half. Add red food coloring to 1/2. Roll on floured surface about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of each mixture until it becomes a long thin roll. Twist each roll together and place on ungreased cookie sheet and shape into a cane. Sprinkle with sugar and bake approximately 10 minutes.
