REFRIGERATOR SPICE COOKIES
SWEDISH COOKIES
 
2 sticks plus 1 1/2 tbsp. butter
1 egg
5 tsp. water
3 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 heaping tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 heaping tsp. cloves
Dash ginger & allspice
3 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of baking powder
2 1/2 c. granulated sugar
4 tsp. molasses

Melt butter. Add sugar and spices. Cool. Add egg, mixing well. Add molasses and water, saving 1 teaspoon of water to dissolve the soda. Add flour, then soda in water. Blend well, then divide dough into 4 equal parts.

Form into rolls, wrap in waxed paper and chill or freeze. Cut very thin. Bake on greased cookie sheets about 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 150 very thin cookies. Store in airtight container.
