THUMBPRINT COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 1/2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tbsp. half & half
3/4 tsp. vanilla

COOKIE: Mix butter and sugar. Add egg yolk and vanilla. Roll into 1 inch balls. Dip in slightly beaten egg white. Roll in finely chopped walnuts (3/4 cup). Bake at 350 degrees for five minutes. Remove and press thumb firmly in center. Return to oven for about 8 minutes. Cool.

FROSTING: Mix well. Drop in thumbprint. Add food coloring to part of frosting for variety. Serves 6.
