APPLE BARS 
2 1/4 c. flour
1 c. lard or Crisco
1 egg yolk in cup filled 2/3 full of milk
1 tsp. salt

Mix as pie crust. Pat 1/2 out in 9 x 13 inch pan. Cover with 3 handfuls corn flakes (or other cereal). Peel and slice 15-20 apples. Add 1 1/2 cups white sugar and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover with remaining crust. Beat egg white stiff and spread over top. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. Dribble thin powdered sugar frosting over top. Serve with ice cream.
