APPLESAUCE FRUITCAKE 
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. applesauce
3 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. grated orange rind
2 c. broken walnuts
2 slices candied pineapple, chopped
1 c. candied cherries, halved
1 c. chopped candied citron
1 c. light raisins
1 c. lg. dark raisins
1 c. currants
1 lb. dates

Heat applesauce to boiling. Remove from heat; add soda, sugar and butter. Stir until butter is melted; cool to room temperature.

Mix 1/2 cup flour with nuts and fruit. Sift remaining flour with dry ingredients. Add sifted dry ingredients to applesauce mixture and beat with electric mixer for 3 minutes. Add fruit and nuts, mix thoroughly and turn into three loaf pans 9 1/4 x 5 1/4 x 2 3/4 inch, greased and lined with foil and greased again. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour 45 minutes.
