HOMEMADE GRANULATED SOAP | |
1 can Lewis Lye 3 qts. cold water 3/4 c. Borax 4 1/2 lbs. melted fat Dissolve lye in cold water. Use wooden spoon for stirring and an iron kettle or enameled dishpan to mix soap in. Add borax and stir until dissolved. Slowly add fat to water, lye and borax mixture. Then stir constantly for 15 minutes. Then stir on and off for next 24 to 36 hours. The soap will be white and granular. If desired a small amount of some type of cologne or other fragrance can be added as soon as the fat has been stirred in. Barnstompin' "Rebels" |
