1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
2 c. self-rising flour

Cream sugar, eggs and shortening together until light. Add vanilla. Add milk and flour alternately. Beat 2 minutes with electric mixer. Pour into greased, floured 13 x 9 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees until done, test by inserting toothpick in center.
