LASAGNA MILANESE (NORTHERN
ITALIAN STYLE)
 
MEAT SAUCE:

2 lg. carrots
2 med. onions
2 stalks celery
1/4 lb. bulk pork sausage
1/4 c. oil and 1 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. red wine
2 (16 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes
10 oz. lasagna noodles
8 oz. Mozzarella cheese (grated)
Grated Parmesan cheese

WHITE SAUCE:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp.salt
3 c. milk

Cook sausage and vegetables in oil and butter. Add ground beef. Cook 20 minutes and drain. Stir in wine, salt and pepper, cook u until wine evaporates. Add stewed tomatoes and simmer 1 hour. Prepare white sauce in saucepan or microwave. Cook noodles according to package directions, drain.

Place 1/3 of noodles in bottom of a 3 quart baking dish. Spread 1/2 meat sauce and Mozzarella cheese, sprinkle with parmesan. Spoon 1/2 white sauce, dot with butter. Repeat layers ending with noodles. Brush with white sauce and dot with butter. Bake at 425 degrees for 45 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
