EGGLESS BUTTERLESS CAKE | |
1 c. brown sugar 1/3 c. vegetable shortening 1 1/4 c. water 2/3 c. raisins 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. cloves 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tbsp. water 2 c. flour, sifted 1 tsp. powder Boil together these ingredients for three minutes: sugar, vegetable shortening, 1 1/4 cup water, raisins, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. Cool to slightly warm. Dissolve salt and soda in 2 tablespoons water and add to above mixture. Gradually add flour and baking powder while beating smooth after each addition. Bake in a greased and floured 8 x 8 inch pan in 325 degree oven about 45 to 50 minutes. Needs no frosting. |
