SPIRIT BALLS 
2 (7 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
1 c. pecans
1 1/2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. brandy or rum
2 tbsp. corn syrup
Coconut, flake or short cut

Put dates and nuts through food chopper. Crush wafers into fine crumbs. Mix all ingredients, except coconut, together; roll into 1/2 inch balls. Roll in coconut. Place in tightly covered container. Let season for a few days. Yields 6 dozen.
