JOAN'S HEAVENLY HAM CASSEROLE
3 med. cooked potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen broccoli spears
1/4 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. plain flour
1 c. milk
1 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
1 ham steak, 1/2 to 1 inch thick
Extra salt and pepper
Paprika

Cook potatoes; then cook broccoli by directions on the package until just tender; drain.

In a skillet, melt butter; add salt and flour, and stir until smooth. Gradually add milk, keeping mixture smooth, and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Then add cheese, and stir until melted. Cut ham steak into 4 pieces, and place in a greased baking dish.

Make layers, beginning with potatoes, a little extra salt and pepper on them, and broccoli spears. Pour sauce over all ingredients and sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serves 3 to 4.

Great idea for ham steaks - most recipes dice ham but it is great to have a steak alternative that is SO good! Best of all, while it is baking you can do dishes so very little cleanup after dinner.

This is fabulous, I used gammon off cuts I got discounted, we had no broccoli so I substituted peas. My husband and I loved it. It is now in my recipe file. Thank you Joan!
