SAUSAGE BISCUIT 
1 lb. sausage
2 2/3 c. plain flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. water
1 c. buttermilk
Melted butter

Crumble and cook sausage until done. Drain and set aside. Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening with pastry blender. Dissolve yeast in water for 5 minutes. Add to buttermilk and stir in dry ingredients. Turn out on pastry cloth. Roll to about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter.

Spread sausage on half of the dough. Fold the other half of the dough over the sausage. Pat or roll lightly and cut with biscuit cutter. Let rise 35 to 45 minutes. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes.

Biscuits may be placed on cookie sheet before allowing to rise and frozen quickly, then package for freezer. If frozen, let biscuits rise about 1 hour before baking.
