1 cake or pkg. yeast
1 c. lukewarm water
Combine the above and let stand until evening. Then stir in enough flour to make a thick batter and let stand overnight. In the morning, add 2 cups lukewarm water, 3/4 cup sugar, generous 1/2 cup lard or butter, and 1 teaspoon salt. Stiffen with flour and knead until smooth. Let rise and knead it down 3 or 4 times during the day. If you wish to have fresh biscuits for breakfast the next day, put the biscuits in a pan at night and let rise until morning. The remaining dough may be refrigerated and used as desired.
